Dear Lambda Alano Community,

We want to share an important update about the future of Lambda Alano Recovery Clubhouse.
As some of you may already know, the property where Lambda is currently located has been purchased as part of the Clark County redevelopment process. Through that process, we have learned that the building may undergo either a major renovation or possible demolition and redevelopment. Either way, it has become clear that Lambda will eventually need to relocate.
The Lambda Alano Board of Directors has established a Relocation Committee to begin preparing for this eventuality. The Committee held its first meeting in early June and is closely monitoring developments with Clark County. At this time, there is no confirmed relocation date, and no final redevelopment timeline has been announced.
Since learning that relocation may be necessary, the Board has been taking steps to prepare Lambda for this transition. In addition to strengthening our financial reporting and planning, Lambda has applied for federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Lambda has been a Nevada nonprofit corporation for many years, but federal nonprofit status can help us in several important ways, including access to grants, charitable foundations, potential rent assistance, and other relocation-related support.
Relocation costs can add up quickly. A future move may involve first and last month’s rent, deposits, moving expenses, tenant improvements, build-out costs, accessibility improvements, and possible changes needed to make a new space work for our meetings and recovery community. A possible relocation assistance package from the Clark County Redevelopment Department would go a long way toward helping with these costs, but at this point we do not know whether assistance will be offered, how much it might be, or when those decisions will be made.
That is one of the main reasons Lambda has not yet selected a new location or set a move date. We are monitoring the redevelopment process closely, gathering information, and preparing as much as possible. Once we have more clarity from the County, we will be in a better position to begin actively evaluating properties and making recommendations.
Our Supporting Member program has been very helpful in keeping Lambda self-supporting financially. However, our current contributions are not enough to build a meaningful prudent reserve or relocation fund. Lambda has worked hard to reduce costs and increase contributions, but we still fall short of the reserves that would be needed for a major move.
This is where our community can help.
If you are able to make a one-time contribution, please use this link:

Every contribution helps. Additional support could help Lambda secure a larger and more suitable space, provide additional meeting rooms, improve accessibility, and include other long-term needs that have been identified by the Relocation Committee. No contribution will go to waste.
Warm wishes,
Lambda Alano Board of Directors and Relocation Committee
